Herzing University – Madison Students Win Honors at Future Business Leaders of America and ADDY® Award Competitions
MADISON, WI (September 15, 2011) – Sieng Lee, a Herzing University – Madison student from Appleton, recently won a Silver National Award at the National ADDY Awards 2011. Eight other Herzing University – Madison students won awards at the Future Business Leaders of America – Phi Beta Lambda (FBLA-PBL) National Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida.
“We’re thrilled for all of our students who performed extremely well at both the ADDY and Future Business Leaders of America competitions, earning the opportunity to compete at the national level,” said Chris Montagnino, campus president of Herzing University – Madison. “This experience will most certainly help them prepare for success in their future careers.”
Lee’s graphic design project, Skateboard Elements, won the Silver National Student ADDY award after winning two Best of Show awards in the local ADDY competition and a Gold Regional Award earlier this year. His fellow Herzing University – Madison graphic design student, Jacob Ruesch, a senior from Wisconsin Rapids, advanced from local to regional ADDY awards competition with his design, The Jelly Beans, for which he was honored with a Silver Regional ADDY award and a silver award in the local ADDY competition.
Herzing University – Madison students also performed well in this year’s FBLA-PBL awards with David Halvorson winning fifth place and $100 at the National Leadership Conference in the Accounting Principles category and 10th place in the Business Law category. Other students who achieved high marks at the 44th Wisconsin StateLeadership Conference of FBLA-PBL and earned awards at the National Leadership Conference include:
· Anthony Lindsey – 6th place in the Help Desk category and 10th place in the Future Business Executive category
· Dustin Martin and Jeff Sarac – 6th place in the Network Design category
· James Doris – 7th place in Public Speaking and 8th place in the Future Business Teacher category
· Casey Lund – 9th place in the Project Management category
A total of 17 awards were won by eight Herzing University – Madison students at the state FBLA-PBL competition.
Herzing University – Madison students brought home a total of 15 silver and gold ADDY® awards from the Madison Chapter competition in February. Hannah Robus, a senior from Watertown won the second place award for “LG Fashion Week.” Stephen Cardwell, a junior from Jefferson won the Student Judge’s Award for Non-traditional Advertising for his piece, “Beneateau Envy.” National ADDY winner Sieng Lee was also awarded a $1,500 scholarship and both Robus and Cardwell earned $500 scholarships for their efforts.
“The students worked very hard this year coming up with unique concepts, and I’m thrilled that their work and talent has been rewarded,” said Kathleen Mitchell, Graphic Design Program Chair for Herzing University – Madison. “Our graphic design program has grown to 60 students over the past 3 years, and I’m really grateful to our dedicated faculty for their efforts to help our talented students to excel in their work. This experience will most certainly help them succeed professionally after they graduate.”
