Herzing University Design Students Score Big at Popular Advertising Competition
MADISON, (March 29, 2011) – Herzing University – Madison - students brought home a total of 15 silver and gold awards during the 2011 American Advertising Federation Addy Awards, on February 25, at the Orpheum Theater in Madison, Wisconsin. The competition is said to be the world’s largest, often with more than 50,000 entries annually, with professional and student designers coming together to judge the best work for the 2010 season.
Herzing student Sieng Lee won first place in the Student Best of Show Mixed Media Campaign for his piece titled, “DNA Sculpture.” Lee also took third place with, “Skateboard Elements.” Second place was secured by Hannah Robus for, “LG Fashion Week.” Student Stephen Cardwell won the Student Judge’s Award for Non-traditional Advertising for his piece, “Beneateau Envy.” A $1500 scholarship was awarded to Sieng Lee, and Hannah Robus and Stephen Cardwell both earned $500 scholarships. Kathleen Mitchell, program chair for the Graphic Design department was thrilled.
“The students worked very hard this year coming up with unique concepts,” she said. “Our program has really grown. I am grateful to our talented students and dedicated faculty.”

2011 District 8 ADDY® Awards
The ADDY® Awards are the nation's largest advertising competition. Each year the competition begins at the local level. AAF-Madison's ADDY winners from February 25th are then submitted to the District 8 regional competitions, and District winners then advance to the national finals.
