Associate and Associate of Applied Science in Surgical Technology

This surgical technology program is designed to provide students with the skills needed to work effectively as an integral part of a surgical team. The coursework includes anatomy and physiology as well as the principles and protocols of surgical procedures. Graduates are prepared for entry-level careers in hospitals, clinics and other healthcare facilities as Surgical Technologists, Lead Surgical Technologists, Travel Surgical Technologists, Sterile Processing Technicians and Material Managers.

Teaching became my passion by accident! I have always loved working in the operating room assisting the surgeons during complex procedures and improving the quality of life for patients and their families. I have been practicing as a CST/CFA for the past 17 years (the last 7 years as a Certified First Assistant).

I had never dreamed that I would one day be a teacher and a program chair—my goal was only to improve the quality and professionalism of the surgical technology students that crossed my path by challenging them to become the best student, surgical technologist, and person they can be!
