Therapeutic Massage

Professional Responsibilities

Massage therapy is the application of soft-tissue manipulation techniques to the body. In the treatment of client health, the trained massage therapist plays a critical role. Massage therapists apply their training to the areas of overall health promotion, stress reduction, pain management and injury recovery. Massage is a healing art as well as a science. It requires academic and technical knowledge, clinical skills, manual dexterity, and sensitivity. You must have the desire to help others, as well as a commitment to investing the time and energy to develop the required skills, to become a massage therapist.

Employment Outlook

The massage therapy profession and the use of this therapy by the public continues to grow at a very fast rate. As a result, the "job growth for this career is expected to be faster than average."

Massage therapy has also found its way into corporate America. An increasing number of corporations have used on-site masages as a means of providing care for their employees, which ultimately benefits the organization in employee morale and productivity.
