MCITP: Microsoft Certified IT Professional - Server Administrator

The MCITP - Server Administrator credentialed professional has the proven ability to troubleshoot networks running on a Windows platform.

Examination

Competencies:

The MCITP - Server Administrator exams test the examinee's knowledge of system administration management and troubleshooting Windows operating systems. This includes:

  • Hardware and external hardware device maintenance
  • User and group accounts creation and rights/accessibility management
  • Backup and recovery
  • Troubleshooting
  • Security
  • IP addressing: TCP/IP, DCHP
  • Name resolution: DNS
  • Routing and remote access
  • Installation
  • Exchange server management

Structure:

To earn the MCITP credential for Windows Server Administrator, candidates must pass three exams.

Core exams:

  1. Exam 70-640: TS: Windows Server 2008 Active Directory, Configuring
  2. Exam 70-642: TS: Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure, Configuring
  3. Exam 70-646: Pro: Windows Server 2008, Server Administrator

Prep courses:

The following courses are used in preparing students for this exam:

  • NT 170 Server Operating Systems
  • NT 200 Network Infrastructure Administration
  • NT 210 Directory Services Administration

Certification

There is no expiration on the MCITP certification.
