Kenosha Testimonials

This is my first year in higher education, and what a journey it has been. I graduated from High School in 2007 and made the decision to take a few years off to see what the world had to offer me. What I soon found out was that without a degree there was not much for me. This past summer I buckled down, got serious, and decided to sincerely pursue my dreams of higher education. I started my search at schools in the Kenosha area.

Needless to say, I was quite nervous just thinking about college, let alone pursuing it. I was filled with doubt and worry that I didn’t have what it took to succeed in a collegiate level academic program. I went and looked at some area public schools, but I either felt the student population was just too big or they didn’t offer a bachelors program I wanted to pursue. I started to panic and was on the outs of giving up when my step-mom mentioned a new campus and university that had opened. The next day I was at Herzing University-Kenosha meeting with Monica Beere!

When I first meet Monica I felt like this could be a great fit for me. She asked me what I was looking for in a university, what my needs were, and continued to explain how a day in a life of a Herzing student is. It sounded perfect. Classrooms are small sized, and the scheduling is so handy. Semesters are split into two terms, so you only have to focus on one or two classes at a time. They offer morning, afternoon, and evening classes. I also have the option to take the classes either online, or on campus.

After our first campus tour I asked her where to sign up! I was a bit nervous and worried, but Monica made me feel better about school and confident about what I wanted to do. I took my entrance assessments and then I was ready to commence my first set of classes!

I was planning on starting school in November when my girlfriend surprised me with a plane ticket to go visit her in Europe! This was a once in a life-time experience for me and I didn’t know how to turn it down. So later that week I came to Herzing University and I spoke with Monica. I explained to her the situation I was in, and asked her for some advice and some guidance. She handled everything, she encouraged me to go and set me up with online classes for the first term. Talk about being caring and convenient!

While I was in Europe I was having the experience of a life-time, and was starting a new experience in attending college. Monica e-mailed me a few times a week to make sure everything was going okay and to make sure I was not having any problems with online classes or using the online system. She even called me a few times to see how classes were going!

When I returned home to the states I had a few weeks left of class, and I was really rocking them. Right then and there I knew that Herzing was a good fit for me and what I wanted from a university. Herzing didn’t just feel like a school anymore it felt like a home. Monica made me feel welcome at school, made me understand that I am never alone, and that there is always someone here to help me!

The spring semester was on the rise and I was getting ready to take my first full term on campus. I was excited and nervous all over again, I was taking mathematics for the first time in three years and my first philosophy class. Again I was blown away with the faculty. Cheryl Downs was my math teacher and she was extremely helpful. She even gave my class her cell phone number to call her for assistance on class work if she wasn’t in the building for help. My philosophy teacher taught me so much, and pushed my brain to its limits. Overall classes went well and I did succeed again!

During the beginning of spring semester Monica presented me with a chance to join the family here at Herzing University-Kenosha! I jumped at the opportunity. I was so excited that I had a chance to join such a wonderful place not only as a student, but now as an employee! A few weeks and interviews later, I received a job offer! I’ve been a Herzing student and employee for over a month now and I couldn’t ask for anything else. I have a job that works around my school schedule and a place that is like a second home.
