The MCITP - Server Administrator credentialed professional has the proven ability to troubleshoot networks running on a Windows platform.
Examination
Competencies:
The MCITP - Server Administrator exams test the examinee's knowledge of system administration management and troubleshooting Windows operating systems. This includes:
- Hardware and external hardware device maintenance
- User and group accounts creation and rights/accessibility management
- Backup and recovery
- Troubleshooting
- Security
- IP addressing: TCP/IP, DCHP
- Name resolution: DNS
- Routing and remote access
- Installation
- Exchange server management
Structure:
To earn the MCITP credential for Windows Server Administrator, candidates must pass three exams.

- Exam 70-640: TS: Windows Server 2008 Active Directory, Configuring
- Exam 70-642: TS: Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure, Configuring
- Exam 70-646: Pro: Windows Server 2008, Server Administrator
