Herzing University is a community. A part of feeling connected is engaging with your instructor and your classmates. Every class has an online discussion every week that allows you to interact with your classmates. You can also connect with Herzing through social media like Facebook and there are social forums within our online learning management system. We also recommend that you take the time to get to know the staff and faculty that are there to assist you. By building relationships with your admissions advisors, Student Services specialists, and instructors, you are connecting with Herzing!
Herzing University offers multiple resources for you to be successful. You can reach out to your faculty to request assistance with a class concern. You are also assigned to a Student Services Specialist who is there to help you in navigating your academic schedule. We also have an online tutoring center and librarians who are there to help. The great thing about these people is that they are regularly available via email and can schedule a time to talk over the phone that works for you and for them.
With online classes, you have the ability to do your work at any time of the day or night. However, to be successful, you need to devote scheduled time to your class work. It will be difficult if you plan to do your work for a few minutes here and there. We recommend that you schedule specific blocks of time each day or several days per week that you will be focused on your class or classes
Studying online is a great opportunity to get an excellent college education without leaving the comfort of your own home. One of the important things to note about online learning is that you need to be motivated and self-disciplined. You are able to engage with the course material in a way that works best for you, but you need to be organized and motivated to work consistently on your classwork. You have access to resources such as faculty, tutoring, and library services, but you need to be able to learn independently as well.
All of the academic admissions requirements are the same. Therefore, you must satisfy our English Proficiency Requirements, successfully graduate from high school for a Bachelor degree, and if you are pursuing a Master degree, you will need to have successfully completed a U.S. Equivalent 4 year Bachelor degree with a Grade Point Average of a 2.7. It is not necessary for you to submit a copy of your financial support nor your passport, as you will not be applying for a U.S. visa. You will still need to provide us with a copy of a National Identification Card to confirm your identity.

If selected for verification, you will be required to submit a Verification Worksheet (provided by your Educational Funding Department) and some, or all, of the following:

  • A copy of your most recent federal tax filing and your spouse’s or parent’s tax filing, if applicable. You can request a free Tax Transcript from the IRS Tax Transcript Request Line by calling 800-829-1040 or by visiting IRS.gov.

Herzing's MBA programs all begin with "business level-setting" courses. Whether a student has years of business experience or not, students will begin with fundamentals that will be a refresher for some and an introduction for others. Additionally Herzing offers tutors and academic support resources both on-campus and through Herzing Online.

The Institute of Medicine has recommended that by 2020 80% of all nurses should have Bachelor's degrees. Hospitals are mandating that their nurses go back to school or risk losing their jobs. Additionally, to move up the career ladder in nursing, a Bachelor's degree has become necessary. Registered Nurses with an Associate degree can't move into management positions in many facilities.

A BSN opens doors to leadership and management positions, clinical teaching positions, and Community Health careers. Magnet-certified facilities often do not hire Associate degree graduates, or they hire them with the understanding that they have a limited time to complete a Bachelor's degree or lose their position.

Yes, Herzing University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, and the Online Nursing programs have held CCNE accreditation since 2011.

This program is fully online, which is convenient for working nurses.

Herzing's RN to BSN program can be completed in as little as 12 months; however, the time you spend in the program depends on your amount of transferrable credit hours.

  • 120 semester credit hours required for graduation
  • 8 required core courses, aligned with CCNE Essentials for Baccalaureate Education
  1. Only 8 required core courses, aligned with CCNE Essentials of Baccalaureate Education.
  2. Students may block transfer in up to 70 semester credit hours.
  3. 45 hours of experiential learning, not the typical undergraduate "clinical".
  4. Embedded e-portfolio to use as documentation of learning activities.
  5. Continuing education activities in each course to use toward license renewal.
  6. Course projects map to Magnet status and clinical ladder programs.
  7. Dual credit option can save time and money toward MSN.

While enrolled in the Bachelor's program, a student may elect to take up to four graduate courses that will satisfy RN to BSN program requirements. These courses will count toward a Master of Science in Nursing degree program, should the student elect to enroll in the MSN program in the future. Students must have a 3.0 GPA at course registration to qualify to take these courses.

Our RN-BSN program has experiential learning courses, as required by our accrediting body, CCNE. These experiential learning courses are specially designed for experienced nurses and do not include hands-on patient care, but rather problem solving in the field. For example, in the Community Health course, students identify a program in the community and work with a community liaison to develop a solution.

RN-BSN Faculty hold Masters or Doctoral degrees and extensive clinical experience as leaders, educators, and/or researchers in their respective fields.
