New VET2LPN/RN Helps Veterans Get Their Nursing Degrees

Use your military training to become a nurse! Herzing University - Madison and the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) is pleased to announce an accelerated VET2LPN/RN program. Often, in LESS THAN ONE YEAR, students become eligible to take the Registered Nurse (RN) exam! The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) exam can generally be taken after just one four month! You can take advantage of this exciting program beginning in September 2014 at Herzing University - Madison.

The program is accelerated by recognizing your military healthcare training and experience as equivalent to several nursing courses in Herzing’s Associate of Science in nursing program. Upon completion, students earn an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and are eligible to take the National Council Licensing Examination for registered nurses (NCLE-X). Additionally, the first semester of the ADN program makes students eligible to take the NCLEX - PN for practical nurses.

Veterans and/or Reserve or National Guard personnel with military healthcare training and experience may enroll in this ADN program and be eligible for the RN exam generally within one year. The required military training includes:

  • Army 68W, Healthcare Specialist
  • Navy HM, Hospital Corpsman, or
  • Air Force 4N0X1, Aerospace Medical Service
