Herzing Kenosha Academic Programs
Message from the Dean
I am excited to be at Herzing University – Kenosha. As the chief academic officer I am responsible for overseeing all matters that affect academic programs and the quality of programs of instruction, as well as addressing issues such as the oversight of academic planning and priorities, good management, and educational program reviews.
I feel very strongly about the importance of education; my roots are in teaching. Roots that are best described by my affinity for the motto of Illinois State University (my alma mater) stating “and gladly would he learn, and gladly teach” (Chaucer), and the calling delivered by Richard Edwards (2nd President of Illinois State University, 1862-76) that “the education of the children of the state is the grandest of enterprises.” I have been inspired by Anatole France’s quotation “to accomplish great things, we must not only act but also dream, not only plan but also believe.”
The faculty at Herzing University work as a diverse community of educators with a commitment to promote the highest academic standards in their teaching, their professional development, and the connections they build between them. We devote all of our resources and energies to creating the most supportive and productive community possible to serve our students.
As the Dean of Academic Affairs I help ensure the quality of the faculty by administering and monitoring procedures and criteria for faculty appointments and promotions, and I work to ensure the quality of student learning by overseeing the curriculum and coordinating initiatives in educational programs.
Gerald (Jerry) W. Lott, Ph.D.
