Advance from Your CCAF Degree to a Bachelor’s with Herzing

Herzing University is honored to partner with the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) and Air University through the Air University Associate-to-Baccalaureate Cooperative (AU-ABC). Our current AU-ABC offering is the Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration (BSHCA), an AU-ABC Category III pathway for students who hold (or are nearing completion of) the CCAF AAS in Health Care Management. This pathway is designed to provide a clear, transfer-friendly route from your CCAF degree to a career-focused bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration.

Program Overview

The BSHCA AU-ABC pathway builds on the leadership, healthcare operations, and management skills gained through the CCAF program and adds advanced coursework in areas such as healthcare management and systems, health policy and regulation, finance and quality in healthcare, information systems, and organizational development and leadership in healthcare.

The AU-ABC BSHCA pathway is designed around the operational demands of Airmen and Guardians:

  • 100% online coursework
  • Classes run in short, accelerated terms to help you maintain momentum while balancing duty, family, and school.

Your AU-ABC pathway is mapped using the official Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration (BSHCA) crosswalk for CCAF – AAS in Health Care Management (Category III). This AU-ABC BSHCA Program Plan Crosswalk clearly shows how your 57 CCAF credits transfer into the degree, identifies your remaining course requirements, and outlines each program component—including General Education, Management Core, Healthcare Administration Core, and the Capstone.

Airmen and Guardians are encouraged to work closely with both their base Education Office and a Herzing University military enrollment representative to make the most of this pathway.

Confirm Eligibility

  • Hold (or be near completion of) a CCAF AAS in Health Care Management.
  • Review Herzing’s BSHCA AU-ABC option in the Air Force Virtual Education Center (AFVEC).

Talk with a HU Military Enrollment Rep & Apply

  • Speak with a Herzing University military enrollment representative to review AU-ABC requirements, expected transfer credit, timelines, Tuition Assistance (TA), and your career goals.
  • Complete Herzing’s online application for admission, indicating your CCAF AAS in Health Care Management and your interest in the AU-ABC BSHCA pathway.
  • Request that your official CCAF transcript (and any additional college transcripts) be sent to Herzing for evaluation.

Credit Evaluation & Program Plan

  • Herzing evaluates your CCAF AAS and applies (a minimum) 57 credits into the AU-ABC BSHCA crosswalk.
  • You receive a personalized degree plan showing your remaining credits, the courses you’ll need, and suggested pacing options.

Enrollment & Tuition Assistance (TA)

  • Coordinate with your base Education Office to complete any required counseling or TA training and to understand submission deadlines.
  • Enroll in courses with your Herzing Academic Advisor and submit your TA request through AFVEC according to your service’s procedures.
