Funnily enough, I found Herzing when I wasn’t even looking for a school to attend. One day on vacation, I had an ad pop up, and I found myself impressed with the offerings available at Herzing. The turnaround time also seemed excellent, so I reached out to learn more.
While I already had 13 years under my belt in healthcare, I wanted to pursue a degree for my children. Providing a lifestyle for them that they need and deserve is so important, and I wanted to make sure I could do that for all six of them.
It wasn’t easy to stay on track, though. I experienced quite a few adversities while attending classes including working two jobs, going through a divorce, having some family losses, and taking care of six children – all on top of working on my degree!
Thankfully, Herzing allowed me to access my work from anywhere, and that helped me get things done. I never felt stressed or overly pressured in my classes, and that was key to helping me stay on track.
Classes like Cultural Diversity, Professional Development, Health Policy, Ethics and Professionalism were all so important. When you work in the healthcare field, you deal with people from all walks of life, after all! My level of compassion and professionalism have been greatly increased thanks to them.
I’m so proud of how well I’ve done while at Herzing. Despite the challenges I faced, I maintained an A/B pattern in my grades and made the Dean’s List twice! Initially, I thought I had lost my touch since graduating high school 17 years ago, but I proved myself wrong by absolutely crushing it!
To all Herzing students: take your time. It’s never too late to reach your goals!
