I have always wanted to be in the medical field. When I entered high school, I took a medical terminology and CNA course and I knew then that healthcare was for me! I wanted to make a difference in people's lives and be a part of improving healthcare around the world.
After a few years at my community college, I started looking at other schools and researching their nursing program requirements. I started feeling discouraged when I realized I needed more classes to meet the prerequisites, a higher GPA or higher test scores to get into the schools I wanted.
Then, I heard about Herzing University through a family member. I went to the nursing information session and loved how the process was so different from any other school. That same year, I got my acceptance letter to Herzing. I was so excited.
I had to leave my 3-year-old daughter behind while I went away to school in Atlanta. It was hard because I missed a lot of good moments in her life to give her a better future. I am thankful that I have an amazing support system and I am so blessed for my daughter to have a family that loves her just as much as I do!
I think everybody played a part in helping me be successful. Herzing definitely made it possible for me to achieve my goals by providing me with everything I needed to succeed and placing the best instructors in my path!
I am currently working as a registered nurse and plan to further my education. I would like to continue moving up in the healthcare field.
My advice is to stay focused and dedicated. Never give up!
