I needed a career path change and I had some general IT knowledge, so I decided to enroll in the technology program at Herzing University. I chose to pursue a concentration in security and networking because there is a high demand for IT security professionals today and the job prospects looked good.
A deployment for the military and other life events caused me to stop and start my education a few times. It took me almost six years to finish, with about three years off due to deployments. All of the staff and faculty helped me achieve my goals, and I am currently employed thanks to earning my associate degree from Herzing.
My advice is to stick with it, even if it takes 10 years. Working adults have lives, jobs and other obligations. This is your personal journey, so do not rush it. Take it in stride and you'll get there.
