Since being founded by Navy veteran Henry Herzing in 1965, Herzing University has remained committed to supporting and understanding the unique challenges veterans face. Our philosophy is simple: You served us, now we serve you. The University offers numerous resources and assistance that veteran students need to succeed in their academic and professional pursuits, from admissions to our student services programs.
However, we took it a step further to make the student experience more personal and customized to our former and current military student body by establishing the Center of Excellence for Veteran Student Services (CEVSS). CEVSS has a dedicated office at our Herzing Kenosha Campus, an online resource center, and staff that work exclusively with military and veteran students.
Our CEVSS program is designed to help veterans transition back to civilian life. While many schools may offer support groups or incentives for military and veteran students, Herzing’s CEVSS program was created to be your partner across the student lifespan. The program offers support and additional assistance in areas such as:
The CEVSS program provides an on-campus space and numerous online resources designed to offer support, programs, and resources to ensure inclusivity and a sense of belonging at Herzing University.
Your current or previous military experiences are an asset. We want you to leverage it as much as you can whether by securing a scholarship, networking, or finding on-campus support.
CEVSS is a lot more than a club. In addition to the support services that staff provide , CEVSS also offers programs to collaborate with fellow veteran peers at Herzing. You will also be enrolled in system updates that allow you to schedule special counseling appointments. CEVSS also offers:
You can also request a special event or resource to help grow the program if it is not already offered.
If you are a current Herzing student with any military experience, you can sign up to join CEVSS! You will have to provide information like your Herzing ID number and email address, but there aren’t any other stipulations barring students from joining. Our staff of Veteran Student Success professionals want everyone eligible to benefit from the program and join the vibrant veteran community!
Absolutely! While transitioning to civilian life and a college student can seem daunting, it doesn’t have to be. We think that a testimonial from Dr. Michael Bankey sums it up best:
“I highly encourage active military and veterans to consider the benefits of going back to school. You’ve served your country and earned your educational benefits. In today’s competitive job market, pursuing your higher education is imperative, and your degree in combination with your military experience will set you apart from a broad pool of applicants. You’ll likely find, more so than you imagine, that your military experience carries directly into the classroom.”
“Your military experiences have given you a solid foundation to build upon, and the team at Herzing University is here to help you with your next move. As a veteran, I am proud of what Herzing does to serve veterans and active duty military every day.”
