You’ve served your nation and now you’re home. Along with thousands of returning veterans each year, you’re faced with the same question — what’s next? An exciting career could be the answer!
Enrolling in college is an ideal way to get into a new career path. Veterans often excel in higher education, with student veterans posting an average GPA of 3.39 in 2019. Student veterans are often adult learners – only 15% were between 18 and 23 years old – and three-fourths are enrolled as full-time students.
Are there obstacles to going from the military to school? Yes. Whether it’s outside responsibilities, returning to civilian life, regular relocation, or a greater likelihood of mental health issues, veterans do face transitional challenges. But you also have many attributes that can help make you successful — reliability, leadership, communication skills, a positive attitude and a team-focused outlook.
If you’ve done your duty and are ready to begin the next chapter of your life, here’s how Herzing can help you complete your pathway to success:
Herzing has a long tradition of supporting those who have served. We provide tailored pathways and initiatives designed to help military veterans, active duty guards and reserves, and military spouses achieve their academic and career goals.
This year, Herzing University earned the 2021-2022 Military Friendly® School designation by VIQTORY, publisher of G.I. Jobs® and Military Spouse® magazines. Final ratings for this designation were based on meeting standards for Student Retention, Graduation, Job Placement, Loan Repayment, Persistence (Degree Advancement or Transfer) and Loan Default rates for all students and, specifically, for student veterans.
Since the passage of the Post-9/11 GI Bill, business and healthcare have been the top two degrees achieved by student veterans. Herzing offers degrees that can lead to career paths in both of those areas. Whether you want to build a business, bring your skills into an existing business, or work as a healthcare professional, Herzing has the educational opportunities and built-in community partnerships to turn a career dream into a career reality.
As you work to achieve your professional goals, an education at Herzing will keep you career-focused. We know that you have a goal and a destination and the courses you take and the time you spend at Herzing are all designed to maximize your success and get you the tools and resources to begin that next chapter.
Whether it's transferrable credits, a schedule that flexes to your real-life responsibilities, online courses, tuition assistance or a nationwide network of campuses, Herzing University doesn’t believe in building up barriers or telling you “you can’t do this.” We want to make the journey as easy as possible, especially for veterans who have more than earned the right to chase and capture their dreams.
In recognition of your service and sacrifice for our country, Herzing University offers special academic services designed to benefit our military students. Herzing's career-focused graduate and undergraduate programs are designed to give students real-world skills and knowledge in fields like public safety, business, technology and healthcare. You will be ready to enter the workforce as soon as you graduate.
