From Service to Success: Herzing University's Commitment to Veterans

We believe that you served us and now it is our opportunity to serve you!

Herzing University proudly supports America's veterans, active-duty military personnel and their spouses. Transitioning from military life to civilian life can be a challenging journey, and veterans must have access to educational and career opportunities. At Herzing, we are committed to serving you with the same integrity you served your country, providing the education and support services you need to help you pursue and achieve the success you deserve.

Herzing University offers an unwavering commitment to supporting veterans in pursuing higher education and successful careers; our history is rooted in it. The first Herzing campus was founded in 1965 by Henry Herzing, a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy. The strength, diligence, and determination he brought from the service to higher education set the standard we work to uphold every day. We believe that you served us and now it is our opportunity to serve you!

1. Military-Friendly Designation

Herzing University is proud to recognize our military-friendly designation, emphasizing our commitment to providing veterans with the support they need. Herzing University is recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the “Best Online Bachelor’s Degree Programs for Veterans” and “Best Online Master’s in Nursing Programs for Veterans.” We have also earned the 2022-2023 Military Friendly® School designation by VIQTORY, publisher of G.I. Jobs® and Military Spouse. ®

This designation is a badge of honor and a testament to our commitment to providing veterans and their families with an educational experience tailored to their unique needs, ensuring that they receive the support and resources necessary for a successful transition into civilian life.

2. Dedicated Veterans Resource Centers

Through a grant from the Department of Education, Herzing University has opened a Center of Excellence for Veteran Student Services (CEVSS) with a dedicated office at our Kenosha Campus, an online resource center and dedicated staff that works exclusively with military and veteran students.

The CEVSS program provides an on-campus space and numerous online resources designed to offer support, programs and resources that aim to ensure inclusivity and a sense of belonging across the student lifecycle at Herzing University.

3. Flexible Program Offerings

Herzing University understands that veterans often have unique scheduling needs due to deployments and other military obligations. As a result, they offer flexible program options, including online courses, evening classes and accelerated programs, allowing veterans to pursue their education while accommodating their busy lives. These opportunities are available to veterans, active military, and their spouses.

Herzing also offers QuickPath options to transition from a military career to a career in nursing. Our Military Medic to a Registered Nurse (RN) can be completed in as few as 20 months.

4. Supportive Financial Aid Services*

Navigating the complexities of financial aid can be a daunting task for veterans. Herzing University offers a wealth of information about financial aid options, scholarships and other resources to assist veterans in funding their education. Our specialists can assist you in finding funding options available through programs such as:

  • Military Tuition Assistance (TA)
  • Post-911 GI Bill® (Chapter 33)

  • Vocational Rehabilitation & Employment (Chapter 31)

5. Transfer Credit for Your Experience

Herzing University also recognizes military training as prior learning credits and may award credits based on American Council on Education (ACE) recommendations and can give college credit for military occupational specialties (MOS). This may help jumpstart a degree and shorten the length of your program.

Whether you plan to pursue career advancement in the military or prepare for a future in the civilian workforce, Herzing University is uniquely qualified to help military students maximize their education benefits and use advanced education to their strategic advantage. You've already demonstrated your strength, determination, and dedication to your country, and we are here to help you realize your full potential in the civilian world.
