Yes. BSW students complete 400 generalist practicum hours designed to expose them to a range of social work practice settings.
MSW students without a BSW complete 400 generalist practicum hours and 500 hours of specialized practicum in their chosen area of focus. Advanced Standing MSW students complete only the 500 hours of specialized practicum. Learn more about field education here.

The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) at Herzing University is a 36-month online degree program that covers foundational social work concepts and skills, including behavioral health theory, addictions, case management, psychosocial assessment and clinical diagnosis.
The BSW program is currently in pre-candidacy for accreditation by the Council on Social Work Education’s (CSWE) Board of Accreditation (BOA). Students admitted in the fall or later of the academic year in which the program is granted candidacy status may be retroactively recognized as graduates from a CSWE-accredited program, provided the program attains initial accreditation. The Advanced Standing MSW at Herzing University is a 12-month online pathway designed for students who already hold a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW).
Because you’ve already completed foundational coursework, the Advanced Standing track allows you to earn your MSW on an accelerated timeline.
