Students participate in Global Game Jam event

Herzing University game development students were joined by students from five other local schools to enjoy a challenging weekend of game development while making new friends and exchanging tips and tricks. Global Game Jam is not a competition, but a challenge extended for the purpose of increasing the confidence of participants and establishing a network of professionals through idea-sharing, experimentation, and plain old fun.

After watching a keynote video on Friday, including advice from leading game developers in the industry, regional groups work all weekend (48 hours) to create a video game based on the secret topic announced in the video. This year's topic was the human heartbeat. Over 80 students participated in Madison, congregating at the Herzing University - Madison campus to tackle the challenge together. Industry professionals from area studios were also involved. In all, 15 games were produced by the team in Madison.
