February 15, 2012 — In honor of Black History month, Herzing University - Toledo, in cooperation with Rave Cinemas, hosted about 100 top students from Toledo’s Scott High School and Herzing University for a viewing of “Red Tails,” the story of the Tuskegee Airmen, an inspiring group of soldiers who served their country during World War II. The event was held at 10am, Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the Rave Cinema, Westfield Franklin Park Mall, 5001 Monroe Street, Toledo, OH 43623.

A voice mail from a Florida clinic administrator to Herzing University - Orlando president Heather Antonacci really made her day. “One of your intern radiology students went above and beyond in providing assistance to an 83-year-old patient,” the administrator said. “Barbara has severe chronic medical conditions and needs continual radiologic imaging procedures. It is a struggle to get ready for the many tests, before, during, and after. Barbara said Herzing student Krystal Andrews is a credit to our program and the institution as a whole.
Thank you to all students, faculty, staff, alumni, and your friends and families who participated in the Relay for Life Cancer Walk fundraising events from March 25 – April 6 at the Akron campus, culminating with the relay walk that began April 5 at 6pm and went through the night until 7am the next day. We raised a total of $2,328.65, making us the third top earning team for the event! A total of 62 teams contributed a total of $46,184.28 toward this great cause to cure a disease that affects so many. Way to show the community how the students and staff at Herzing care!
Herzing University students are known to be strong contributors in their communities, and the volunteering for the Touched Twice Clinic is just one more example of their desire to use their new skills for the benefit of others by performing health screening services such as blood sugar tests and blood pressure checks.

MADISON, WIS (MARCH 4, 2013) ─ Herzing University - Madison’s Associate Professor Lynn DuPree, Sun Prairie, was awarded the Herzing System Faculty Service Award. She was selected from over 625 faculty members at 12 locations across the United States for performing the most and best community service in 2012.
Tyrone McCall, a graduate of the Herzing University in Bachelor of Science in Homeland Security and Public Safety degree, was honored by the Hoover Chamber of Commerce in February 2012 for his service with the city of Birmingham. Tyrone was presented with the Detention Officer of the Year Award for his leadership role in creating a transport team which moved prisoners to the Federal Courthouse. McCall also was recognized for his service in the field where he successfully transported 53 suspects to the Hoover jail, enabling the patrol officers to focus on their assigned areas.
Criminal justice professor and program chair, Dr. William Wolfe, was interviewed by WNWO News regarding the training required for faculty, students, and police when a shooter is actively attempting to harm people on campus. In a local news story prompted by a video released by "Houston Ready," that depicts training for protection strategies, Dr. Wolfe was selected to weigh in as the local authority on the topic. Graphic Design and Game Development students from Herzing University - Madison, led by Design Program Chair Erik Pederson, won an impressive 20 ADDY awards from the American Advertising Federation on February 15, 2013 at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin. The ADDY Awards, which recognize excellent student and professional work, bestowed upon Herzing students several medals including the highly-coveted Best in Show and Judge’s Choice Awards in the student category. The event was well attended with competitors from across the state.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the food drive this month! Our contributions were delivered to the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank on 11/21/12. In total, we donated 2,253 pounds of food, which is equal to 2,928 meals that will help people in our community. Great job everyone!! Thank you again!!
