For as long as I can remember, I wanted to work in the medical field. When I was a senior in high school, I had the opportunity to shadow a registered nurse (RN) in the emergency room, and that’s when I realized that nursing is what I wanted to do.
Herzing's core values and their ability to help their students succeed are what inspired me to choose them. I knew that nursing was hard, but I did not realize how hard it would be until I started the program.
However, Herzing helped me complete my studies in a reasonable amount of time! I finished my ASN in less than two years with their ongoing curriculum. The program I attended was accelerated and it is far from easy, but it’s not impossible. The hours of studying and attending class are worth what you receive in the end!
I had to complete most of my degree online due to studying during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. That certainly didn’t slow me down, and I still found success in my classes!
If I had to choose the most valuable class for my career goals, I’d say my practicum clinical experience was the most important. That’s where I got to see firsthand what nurses do on a day-to-day basis. It also showed me which areas in nursing I wanted to work in. After graduation, I hope to get accepted into a nursing residency program and I’m so excited to start applying!
