Fiedland's path to Herzing University began through a personal connection that would ultimately reshape his professional trajectory.

"My journey to Herzing University was an interesting one. At the time, my fiancée was taking classes there, studying coding and billing," Fiedland explains. "I didn't know much about Herzing, but I was eager to spend more time with her and learn about the school."

Discovering New Academic Opportunities

As Fiedland explored Herzing's offerings, he discovered programs that complemented his existing expertise while opening new professional avenues.

"I discovered their master's degree program, which piqued my interest. I already had a master's in IT cybersecurity, but I was intrigued by the data analytics concentration," he recalls.

Dedicated Academic Guidance

The persistent encouragement of an admissions advisor proved instrumental in Fiedland's decision to pursue the data analytics program.

"I met with an admissions advisor, and we discussed my options. Over the following weeks and months, she persistently encouraged me to consider the data analytics program, and I eventually decided to enroll," Fiedland shares.

Flexibility Across Campuses

Fiedland's educational journey showcased Herzing's commitment to student flexibility and continuity. His experience spanning multiple campuses demonstrated the university's ability to accommodate students' changing circumstances.

"I initially took classes at Herzing's campus in Winter Park, Florida, but then relocated to Georgia, where I was able to continue my studies at their Atlanta campus," he notes.

"The classes have been phenomenal, and I'm grateful for the opportunity," Fiedland states.

"At one point, I had even considered pursuing a master's in human resources, but work demands and time constraints led me to focus on the data analytics graduate certificate instead," he explains.

A Shared Milestone

Fiedland's graduation became a memorable family celebration when he and his wife completed their respective programs simultaneously.

"Coincidentally, I was able to graduate from the certificate program in December 2022, the same time as my wife, who was finishing her bachelor's degree at Herzing. It was a wonderful experience to walk across the stage together," Fiedland recalls.

Professional Application and Impact

Fiedland's Herzing education proved immediately valuable in his post-military career, providing expertise that his employer regularly calls upon for special projects.

"After retiring from the military, I found a role with the Veterans Health Administration, where I'm able to utilize the skills and knowledge I gained from my Herzing education, particularly in areas like SharePoint and business intelligence applications," he explains.

"It's incredibly satisfying when they call on me to lend my expertise to special projects, knowing that I can deliver thanks to my Herzing training," he notes.
