I've worked in the mental health field for over 15 years and wanted to advance my career. Herzing offered an online program, which was perfect for me as I needed to work full-time and care for my young children. Plus, I didn't need a certain amount of nursing experience to apply, which was great!
The main challenge during my studies was finding a balance between work, family, and assignments. I tried to stay ahead to avoid falling behind, and most professors were understanding if I needed extra time due to technology issues or family commitments.
This program helped me achieve my goal of becoming a PMHNP quickly. The clinical experiences were diverse, from outpatient to inpatient care, and pharmacology was particularly useful.
I've now secured a position as a provider at an acute inpatient unit, and my next goal is to complete my doctoral degree!
