Pursuing a career as an FNP had been a desire of mine for over a decade, but family and work commitments always took precedence over broadening my education. When I was looking for a school, I knew I needed the flexibility that Herzing University offered to accommodate my current lifestyle.
My family encouraged me to go back to school, and with their support, I was able to successfully obtain my degree! While studying, I had multiple family concerns that came up and required my attention. When this happened, I was able to take a break and attend to family issues so I could get myself to a better place.
Thankfully, online courses allowed me to study around my work and family schedules. Dr. Pietrowski was the most helpful of my professors; she was very supportive and readily responded to my concerns!
Advanced Assessment and Advanced Pharmacology provided a good foundation during my learning, and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed pediatric rotation. I love kids but did not think that my pediatric rotation would be my favorite. Funny how that works!
My advice for students is to know that they can do this! Utilize your resources, figure out a study plan early on, don't neglect your personal needs and don’t forget to breathe!
