Herzing Helps Future Leaders at Boys & Girls Club Symposium

Herzing University participated in the fifth annual Majors Meets Careers Symposium offered by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee. At the event, the Club matched high school seniors with career professionals in their desired areas of education and future employment.

Joan Neave, nursing clinical coordinator and associate professor of nursing at Herzing-Brookfield, participated in the mentoring workshop, offering advice and guidance to students interested in nursing careers.

Herzing-Brookfield Provides “Blessings in a Backpack”

As part of an ongoing partnership with Blessings in a Backpack of Waukesha County, Herzing-Brookfield students and staff are helping to bridge the gap for impoverished elementary school children by filling students’ backpacks with food for the weekend. Every Friday, Herzing-Brookfield volunteers travel to local elementary schools and distribute food to more than 300 students in Waukesha County.

New Herzing-Minneapolis Campus to Open in Early 2018

Herzing University today announced it will move its Twin Cities-area campus from Crystal to St. Louis Park and open in early 2018, just in time for the school’s January term. The new, 30-000-square-foot campus will be at Metropoint, an office tower that includes upgraded labs with state-of-the-industry technology to support Herzing’s dental and nursing programs.

Akron Nursing Students Organize Self-Care Health Fair

BSN and ASN students at Herzing University-Akron organized a health fair at the Akron Canton Airport for Delta Airlines employees. Herzing students led educational presentations on personal health and wellness, covering topics such as stress reduction, meditation, how to deal with angry customers, disability awareness and the health benefits of walking. Delta attendees also participated in interactive activities to reduce stress, including painting rocks, adult coloring and yoga.

Herzing-Atlanta Welcomes High School Students for Open House

Students from DeKalb High School of Technology and Health Sciences recently visited the Herzing-Atlanta campus to learn about careers in technology, nursing, healthcare and criminal justice. Following a campus tour, DeKalb students attended an information session about Herzing’s degree programs, where they spoke with Herzing-Atlanta Campus President Chris Chavez, admissions advisors and career development representatives.

BSN Students Give Back, Gain Experience at Local Free Clinic

At Herzing-Brookfield, BSN students gain hands-on clinical nursing experience while also giving back to the community.

BSN students at the Brookfield campus have the opportunity to complete their clinical rotation at St. Joseph’s medical clinic in Waukesha, WI, which offers free medical services and pharmaceutical relief to low income and uninsured individuals.

Brookfield CARE Clinic Links Students with Community

When people can’t get insurance coverage for their physical therapy sessions, they might stop getting treatment. Fortunately, Herzing-Brookfield students are helping residents who need therapeutic help for their aches and pains but have difficulty paying for it.

The new pro bono CARE clinic, which offers therapeutic exercises and treatment through Herzing’s physical therapist assistant (PTA) program, recently opened on the Herzing-Brookfield campus.

Herzing-New Orleans Provides Medical Supplies for Hurricane Relief

In late September, hurricanes Irma and Maria hit the Virgin Islands less a week apart, leaving catastrophic devastation in their wake. With limited medical supplies available to treat the wounded, the Islands were in critical need of aid.

Surgical technology students and instructors at Herzing-New Orleans responded to the call for help by collecting unused medical supplies to support hurricane relief efforts. Boxes full of medical supplies from Herzing New Orleans were scheduled for delivery to the Islands.

No Glasses Needed: Herzing-Toledo’s Eclipse Viewing Draws Crowd, Media

On Aug. 21, people across the country gathered outside to watch the solar eclipse, the most widely visible eclipse from North America in nearly 100 years. Herzing University-Toledo was lucky to have Tom Knoedler, a budding meteorologist and co-chair of the General Education Department, on site to help students and staff view the eclipse safely.
