Campus Feature: The Birmingham Campus
Feb 10, 2026

For over six decades, Herzing University has been at the forefront of career-focused education. Founded in 1965 by Henry and Suzanne Herzing, and now led by their daughter, President Renée Herzing, we've grown from a single computer training institute to a respected, multi-campus institution with 12 campuses across eight states offering a wide range of academic programs, as well as our online campus and programming.
While all 12 campuses share the same mission to educate, support and empower all students for success in work, learning and engagement in our communities and global society, each campus has its own unique history and contributions that it brings to the wider university system.

History and Building
For over 50 years, Herzing University has provided Alabamians with access to the degrees and support they need to transform their lives. In 1968, Herzing University experienced rapid success and was soon invited to take over schools in Toronto, Montreal and Birmingham. While the other campuses would eventually close, Herzing Birmingham is still going strong almost 60 years later.
Herzing University Birmingham now occupies a 40,000 square foot building featuring state-of-the-industry equipment, computer labs, electronic labs and a library and resource center at 280 West Valley Avenue, Birmingham. Because of our storied history in the area, Herzing Birmingham has deep partnerships with local healthcare facilities and other employers so that you not only earn your degree but also work right here in the Magic City.
Herzing Birmingham is entirely contained within a single professional building. A practical and commuter-friendly learning environment focuses on getting students in and out for classes and lab work. The campus itself is professional and practical in focus, rather than traditional college-campus style.
Academic Programs
Herzing University Birmingham serves a primarily adult student population. Most Herzing students are adults who juggle school with work or family.

Learn More About Our Career Programs
BLS pay estimates calculate the median annual wage for various occupations. Per the BLS the median wage for an occupation is: "The wage at which half of the workers in the occupation earned more than that amount, and half earned less. Median wage data are from the BLS Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics survey." Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Outlook Handbook 2024. BLS median wage estimates do not represent entry-level wages and/or salaries. Multiple factors, including prior experience, age, geographic market in which you want to work, and degree level and field, will affect career outcomes, including starting salary and earnings as an experienced employee. Herzing neither represents that its graduates will earn the median salaries calculated by BLS for a particular job nor guarantees that graduation from its program will result in a job, promotion, particular wage or salary, or other career growth.
