Herzing University Adds Five New, Redesigned and Expanded Healthcare Programs to Meet Workforce Demand

Herzing University, an accredited, private nonprofit institution, today announced five program launches, redesigns and expansions this fall, spanning nursing, health information, surgical technology and behavioral health. The additions include new graduate options, updated curricula that reflect how technology and AI are reshaping healthcare, and expanded access in three Southeastern markets.
"At Herzing University, our mission has always been to provide career-focused education that directly responds to the needs of the communities we serve," said Renée Herzing, President of Herzing University. "These new and redesigned programs reflect our position as a workforce educator, ensuring we are delivering the highly trained workforce that employers and patients rely on."
New and redesigned programs include:
MSN in Nursing Informatics (Online): Registered nurses can enter with either an associate or bachelor's degree. The BSN to MSN pathway takes 16 months, and the Accelerated RN to MSN pathway takes 20. The CCNE-accredited program builds skills in data governance, information systems, interoperability and the responsible use of AI in patient care, with practicum hours in real healthcare settings. Graduates are prepared for roles such as clinical informatics analyst and nursing informatics manager. Classes start Jan. 11.
MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (Online): This 60-credit program can be completed in 24 months and includes 700 hours of supervised practicum and internship experience. The curriculum aligns with CACREP standards and is taught by licensed professionals currently working in the field. Field experiences are completed near where students live, so no travel to a Herzing campus is required. Licensure requirements vary by state. Classes start Jan. 11.
BS in Health Information Management – Redesigned (Online): The updated 120-credit, CAHIIM-accredited program adds advanced study in healthcare analytics, AI, compliance, data governance, revenue cycle management and CPT/HCPCS coding, and includes a capstone with a healthcare industry partner. Students can transfer up to 90 credits, prepare for the Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA®) exam, and earn up to six graduate credits toward select master's degrees. Next start: Nov. 2.
AS in Health Information Technology (Online): The 60-credit, CAHIIM-accredited program can be completed in 20 months. It covers medical coding, electronic health records, compliance, analytics and AI, and prepares graduates for the Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT®) exam. Students can transfer up to 45 credits. Next start: Nov. 2.
Surgical Technology – New Markets (Hybrid): Herzing has expanded its CAAHEP-accredited Associate of Science in Surgical Technology to Tampa, Orlando and Atlanta, joining existing program locations in Brookfield, Wisconsin; Clarksville, Tennessee; Dallas; and New Orleans. Students complete coursework online, train in on-campus labs and gain experience through clinicals in local operating rooms. The direct entry pathway requires no prior healthcare experience and prepares graduates for the Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) exam. Cohorts start on a rotating schedule; prospective students should contact their local campus for the next available start date.
