Herzing University-Madison was a proud sponsor and host of the Wisconsin Public Health Association’s (WPHA) regional nursing summit on Oct. 23, 2018 at the Madison Club in Madison, Wisconsin. The event brought together more than 90 public health professionals and WPHA members from across southern Wisconsin to explore local and national public health concerns.

Herzing University-Madison Campus President Bill Vinson welcomed attendees to the program and discussed how Herzing University is helping local healthcare organizations meet evolving workforce needs.

On Oct. 23, 2018, Herzing University’s Kenosha campus held a Mass Casualty Trauma Simulation to provide nursing students with a hands-on learning opportunity to practice their emergency response skills. The simulation involved more than 30 community members, who acted as “patients” with injuries ranging from minor to life-threatening.

More than 50 Herzing students took part in the simulation, alongside trauma nurses, EMS personnel, paramedics and firefighters from the community. The students were not notified of the simulation beforehand.

Business and community leaders recently joined the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee at their annual Celebrating G.I.R.L.S. event sponsored by Herzing University. The event took place Nov. 5 at the Italian Community Center in Milwaukee and focused on the importance of helping Club members’ reach their full potential to become inspirational and responsible leaders.

Herzing-Minneapolis student Judy Yang is one of four recipients of 2018-19 tuition scholarships from Minnesota Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr’s Raise the Barr Foundation. The recipients of this year’s scholarships are all single mothers who are enrolled at Twin Cities universities.

Nine legal studies students from Herzing University’s Atlanta campus were inducted into Lambda Epsilon Chi, a national honor society for paralegal students, on Sept. 14, 2018.

The induction ceremony was held at the Commerce Club in Atlanta. Herzing University Atlanta Campus President Chris Chavez attended the ceremony, along with Department Chair of Legal Studies Jennifer Cantor and Academic Dean Michael Velarde-Bell.

Approximately 100 guests attended Herzing University’s ribbon-cutting ceremony at the historic Hurt Building in downtown Atlanta on Sept. 27. Attendees included several of the school’s partners, students and faculty, as well as State School Superintendent Otha Thornton and keynote speaker Central Atlanta Progress President A.J. Robinson.

Two Herzing University students are spending a semester abroad in China. Dalyn Small and Sabrina Artemus, both technology students at Herzing University-Atlanta, had never traveled overseas until they left for Hong Kong in September 2018. They are currently studying Chinese language and culture at Zhuhai College of Jilin University, one of the top-ranked universities in China, and will return to the States at the end of the fall semester.

On September 22, 2018, Herzing University-Brookfield and Herzing University-Kenosha celebrated 2018 summer graduates at a combined graduation and pinning ceremony at the South Milwaukee Performing Arts Center.

More than 90 students graduated from nursing, business, healthcare, public safety and technology programs at the Kenosha and Brookfield campuses and online.

Dr. Henry Herzing, founder of Herzing University, delivered an inspirational commencement address and congratulated new graduates on all of their accomplishments.

Herzing University-New Orleans held a graduation ceremony for 2018 graduates at the Pontchartrain Convention and Civic Center on October 4, 2018.

More than 130 students graduated from Herzing’s on-campus and online healthcare, nursing, public safety, legal studies and technology programs.

Students were surprised with a local brass band playing the traditional Pomp and Circumstance as they entered the building.

“We are so proud of our graduates and wish them all the best in their future endeavors,” said Herzing University New Orleans Campus President Jaime Hardage.

Herzing-Akron BSN student Amanda O’Neil was recently awarded the NURSE Corps Scholarship. The program offers nursing students funding for their training in exchange for working at least two years at a Critical Shortage Facility (CSF) after graduation.
