During the holiday season, Herzing-Akron has collaborated with Akron Hope, a local nonprofit dedicated to improving education and quality of life for impoverished youth, on the organization’s Adopt-A-Classroom program. On Giving Tuesday, November 28, Herzing students and faculty collected toys and gift donations for three classrooms of students at Firestone Elementary School.
On Tuesday, December 12, Herzing students and faculty personally delivered the wrapped toys to the adopted classrooms, and spent time playing and talking with the students while they opened their gifts. Herzing-Akron Campus President Bill Cassidy dressed up as Santa Claus, with several other Herzing faculty members dressed up as Santa’s elves.
“It was a great day,” Cassidy said. “The excitement on the kids’ faces is something that we will all remember for a lifetime. All of the students were very grateful for their toys and seemed to really enjoy our visit.”
