Herzing-Akron BSN student Amanda O’Neil was recently awarded the NURSE Corps Scholarship. The program offers nursing students funding for their training in exchange for working at least two years at a Critical Shortage Facility (CSF) after graduation.
Many Americans in underserved areas go without preventive care and vaccines because there are not enough health care professionals to provide treatment in their communities. The NURSE Corps Scholarship program is designed to improve access to healthcare services in these areas, while empowering aspiring nurses to fulfill their passion for caring for others.
“Giving back to the community is important to me because of all of the things I have gone through in my life,” says O’Neil. “The Nursing Corps Scholarship opens the door to nursing opportunities that will allow me to help those in need.”
