My educational journey has taught me a lot and has helped me realize I can be a future leader in the business world.

I have great pride in my accomplishments, which include earning an associate degree of applied science in business management while completing numerous business and marketing certificates and maintaining a 4.0 grade-point average. I am currently pursuing my bachelor’s degree in business management with a concentration in marketing at Herzing University and will graduate in spring of 2018.

I certainly didn’t expect to do all these things, but I have learned so much about myself and what I am capable of in these past few years.

A sense of purpose

I will always say that my true purpose in life is to become a mom and to raise a family; that is of the utmost importance to me. However, through my academic pursuits, I’ve also cultivated a passion for business and marketing. I really love learning about marketing and can see myself as a marketing manager in the future. Specifically, I’m interested in social media marketing. By choosing to pursue my degree in business, I’ve not only found a career that I’m passionate about, I’ve developed a sense of purpose through my studies and my professional development.

Journey of self-discovery

Throughout my educational journey, I have learned a lot about myself and my determination to succeed. I never thought that I would speak in front of a classroom of people at a DECA meeting or present a business plan for a panel of judges. I never thought that I would graduate from my two-year program with the Highest Scholastic Achievement in my class, and I never thought I would be planning to pursue my MBA. I have learned to jump at the chance to get outside of my comfort zone, and I’ve learned that new experiences, while challenging, are always opportunities to better myself. Pursuing my education has helped me discover a whole new side of myself and motivated me to always give 150 percent.

Peace of mind

In addition to contributing to my personal growth, my education is also incredibly valuable for my future career. I know that I will have many job opportunities open to me when I graduate because there are many different career paths I can pursue. I feel relieved knowing that I will have so many options in a time when it’s difficult for new graduates to find a job.
