Local Professor Receives National Award for Community Service

MADISON, WIS (MARCH 4, 2013) ─ Herzing University - Madison’s Associate Professor Lynn DuPree, Sun Prairie, was awarded the Herzing System Faculty Service Award. She was selected from over 625 faculty members at 12 locations across the United States for performing the most and best community service in 2012.

Alumni Receives Distinguished Award

Tyrone McCall, a graduate of the Herzing University in Bachelor of Science in Homeland Security and Public Safety degree, was honored by the Hoover Chamber of Commerce in February 2012 for his service with the city of Birmingham. Tyrone was presented with the Detention Officer of the Year Award for his leadership role in creating a transport team which moved prisoners to the Federal Courthouse. McCall also was recognized for his service in the field where he successfully transported 53 suspects to the Hoover jail, enabling the patrol officers to focus on their assigned areas.

Criminal justice professor and program chair, Dr. William Wolfe, was interviewed by WNWO News regarding the training required for faculty, students, and police when a shooter is actively attempting to harm people on campus. In a local news story prompted by a video released by "Houston Ready," that depicts training for protection strategies, Dr. Wolfe was selected to weigh in as the local authority on the topic. Students are Honored at ADDY Awards with Best in Show and Judge's Choice Awards

Graphic Design and Game Development students from Herzing University - Madison, led by Design Program Chair Erik Pederson, won an impressive 20 ADDY awards from the American Advertising Federation on February 15, 2013 at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin. The ADDY Awards, which recognize excellent student and professional work, bestowed upon Herzing students several medals including the highly-coveted Best in Show and Judge’s Choice Awards in the student category. The event was well attended with competitors from across the state.

Fantastic Food Drive - THANK YOU!

Thank you to everyone who participated in the food drive this month!  Our contributions were delivered to the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank on 11/21/12.  In total, we donated 2,253 pounds of food, which is equal to 2,928 meals that will help people in our community.  Great job everyone!!  Thank you again!!

Nursing Students Make Strides for a Cure

Herzing University - Akron’s National Student Nurses’ Association (NSA) raised over $1,200 for Stride for the Cure, which occurred October 7, 2012. Nurses provide hope on a daily basis, and our sensational nursing students believe in doing so in the community through support, education, advocacy, and awareness before they even graduate!

Nursing Students Conduct Back-to-School Services

Herzing University nursing students participated in the community-wide back-to-school bash that took place at the Citrus Bowl stadium on Saturday, August 10. Over 30,000 people were in attendance to receive school supplies, hair cuts, and more in an effort to prepare children for the oncoming school year. HU nursing students volunteered to administer vaccinations and conduct health screenings. This was the 8th annual back-to-school event, which is organized by Hope Now International.

Get Certified! Radiology Certification Seminar

Akron Institute of Herzing University will host a radiology seminar for those seeking to apply for radiology certification. This is the initial seminar required prior to fulfilling the requirements for radiology certification application.

The event will take place from 9am to 1pm on Friday, July 27, 2012 at Akron Institute of Herzing University, 1600 South Arlington Street, Suite 100, Akron, OH 44306. The cost is $125. Please make checks payable to Akron Institute of Herzing University. Cash or check required.

Reservations by July 20, 2012 are required to hold your spot.

Herzing University Launches Innovative Dual Credit Program Enabling Students to Earn Bachelor’s and MBA in Less Than Four Years

(April 12, 2012) - Herzing University announced today that it is offering a new Dual Credit program that will allow students to take courses that apply to both their Bachelor of Science degree and their Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree concurrently, earning both degrees in less than four years.  The program allows students in their senior year to save time and money by exchanging four business or open elective courses for four MBA courses that count toward both degrees.
