For the third consecutive year, Herzing University provided thousands of backpacks full of school supplies to help prepare children for the upcoming school year. Throughout July and August, Herzing campuses worked in partnership with local chapters of the Boys and Girls Clubs to distribute 5,000 backpacks to children in their communities.

In partnership with the Kenosha Area Chamber of Commerce, Herzing University recently awarded three scholarships to Kenosha-area residents. The scholarship recipients, which were chosen by the Chamber’s scholarship committee, can enroll in any of Herzing University’s programs offered at the Kenosha campus or online, including degrees at the associate, bachelor’s or master’s level.

Members of the Herzing University- Minneapolis Student Nurses Association (SNA) recently volunteered at the V.E.A.P food pantry. V.E.A.P, which stands for Volunteer Enlisted to Assist People, is a local basic needs organization that offers programs to increase access to healthy foods, social services, housing stability and supportive services.

Herzing University students will soon have a library of career resources at their fingertips. The university’s new web-based Career Center will launch Sept. 5 and will be available to all Herzing students on campus and online.

In the Career Center, students can build a personalized and competitive ePortfolio to showcase their academic achievements, professional experience and industry certifications. Students can upload their resume and cover letter to their ePortfolio, and add multimedia assets, such as presentations and videos.

Herzing University-Brookfield recently announced two additional scholarship opportunities for local residents, made possible through ongoing partnerships with the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce and the National Hispanic Nurses Association - Greater Milwaukee Chapter (GMNAHN).

Pride in Healthcare Scholarship

Working with the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce, Herzing developed the Pride in Healthcare scholarship to help members of the Milwaukee area LGBT community pursue careers in healthcare.

Sharese Windley started college in 1998, but it wasn’t until this year that she finally earned her nursing degree. After battling a chronic illness throughout adulthood and taking time off from school to raise her family, Windley made the decision to enroll in the BSN program at Herzing University-Atlanta in 2015.

“I knew that if I didn’t finish school now I never would. At that point, I had been a stay-at-home mom for 10 years, and I felt like the opportunity was slipping away,” Windley remembers.

Two game design students from Herzing University’s Madison campus – Briana Dinkins and Owen Jones – have taken top honors in the Game Design Challenge, an international competition by video game industry news and blog site Gamasutra.com. This is the second “Top Entry” recognition for Dinkins.

Herzing University is organizing a Healthcare Education and Employment Symposium at its Kenosha campus from 5-8 p.m. Aug. 8, 2018. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet and connect with healthcare professionals from the Kenosha area and learn about required skills, career pathways and employer expectations in healthcare.

As Herzing University-Atlanta prepared for its campus move to the Hurt Building in downtown Atlanta, university staff helped students plan for the transition.

One of the great advantages of the new campus location is the accessibility of public transportation, such as the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA). Student services staff tested the new commute from various locations in the metro-Atlanta area to provide students with everything they’ll need to know about getting to and from the new campus before the building opened to Herzing students this week.

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at Herzing University’s Kenosha campus has been approved for a five-year accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

Accreditation by CCNE shows that Herzing’s BSN program is sufficient across several criteria, including institutional resources, quality curriculum and teaching practices and program outcomes related to completion rates, pass rates and employment.
