It’s not easy to figure out all the steps needed to finance a college education, which is why Herzing University took steps to simplify and explain the financial aid process to current and prospective students during the "Financial Aid: What You Need to Know powered by Herzing University” webinar in August.

During the webinar, Herzing financial aid advisors shared the basics of financial aid, including the categories, types and sources of financial aid as well as the FAFSA. The topics included:

Herzing University’s New Orleans campus recently held its first ever Boots to Business Reboot, a two-step entrepreneurship training program designed to provide valuable assistance to transitioning service members who are exploring business ownership or self-employment.

Thanks to a tip from a Herzing alumna, recent graduate Barbara Larson started work in July as a human resources coordinator at Nelson Global Products in Stoughton, Wis.

On July 26, Herzing University-Akron held a student appreciation picnic to benefit the Summit County Rape Crisis Center.

In addition to enjoying hamburgers, hot dogs and assorted snacks, Campus President Bill Cassidy and other faculty members joined students for a water balloon fight, a corn hole competition and several other outdoor games. For each activity, students and faculty made a donation to the Crisis Center fund.

At the end of the picnic, Herzing donated leftover hamburgers and hot dogs to Haven of Rest Ministries, a homeless shelter in Akron.

Herzing University recently announced a DEGREE UP partnership with Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC) in Eau Claire, WI to allow students a more flexible and affordable pathway to a BSN degree. Through the new partnership, students are able to pursue credit from both CVTC and Herzing University and take advantage of CVTC’s tuition rates for many required bachelor's-level courses.

Workforce development has become even more important in the southeastern Wisconsin region now that Taiwanese electronics company Foxconn announced July 26 that it plans to build a $10 billion plant that could employ up to 13,000 people. The plant is expected to open in 2020 and would employ 3,000 immediately with the possibility of adding more. The economic ripple effect in the area of the plant – which is likely to be near I-94 in southeastern Wisconsin, according to media reports – will likely add thousands of more jobs, officials have said.
